Lesson #1ย

[This review first appeared on @miltongohblog]

Thanks to the introduction by @todaygotclass, baby @maelethsarah attended her first class at @sparkanauts at Toa Payoh SAFRA today! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Mae is enrolled in the Mandarin “Cadet (12 – 18 Months)” class. ย This class targets the development of her lungs and vocals. They conduct vocalisation activities that develops speech abilities, combined with activities that sharpen balance and locomotor skills. ๐Ÿ’ช

We feel that learning Mandarin is very important in today’s economy because China is a rising power in the world, and being fluent at such a relevant and widely-spoken language will be a huge advantage to Mae when she grows up! ย We don’t speak much mandarin at home so it’s perfect that she gets to learn mandarin at Sparkanauts. ๐Ÿ‘

There were two teachers teaching the class in mandarin, and there were only two students in total for the session we attended (Mae and another 14 months old boy of French descent), which felt very personal and luxurious. The two teachers were enthusiastic, friendly, encouraging, and by the end of the class, Mae was quite comfortable with them interacting with her! ๐Ÿ‘Œ

We also like that the two teachers (one is from China and the other is a local) both spoke very fluent mandarin with great articulation and nice-sounding accent. ๐Ÿ—ฃ

We enjoyed this first class and are looking forward to Mae’s next mandarin class! “Sparkanauts” is one of the many children enrichment programmes that you can sign up for on Today Got Class ( www.todaygotclass.com ). @todaygotclass is the happier way to book classes – you can use their portal to discover the very best classes for your children for free, book online on their website and get instant confirmation, and even get rewarded with exclusive discounts by accumulating points every time you book classes with them! ๐Ÿ‘

Lesson #2ย

[This review first appeared on @miltongohblog]

Earlier today, @maelethsarah attended her second class at @sparkanauts at SAFRA Toa Payoh, and we noticed visible improvements in her level of engagement this time round as compared to last week’s class – she is getting more comfortable with the teachers interacting with her! ๐Ÿ™Œ

This class is really an extensive physical and mental workout for Mae! Through it, one of the key benefits for Mae is that she gets a good opportunity to master her crawling skills, with lots of obstacle courses to crawl through, over, and across. ๐Ÿ’ช

We were looking forward to this second class also because Mae gets great exposure to Mandarin which we don’t speak much at home. Hopefully she will be able to understand and speak Mandarin words soon, just like how she can understand English and speak some English words too! ๐Ÿ—ฃ

We enjoyed ourselves so much again and are looking forward to next week’s third class! “Sparkanauts” is one of the many children enrichment programmes that you can sign up for on Today Got Class (www.todaygotclass.com). @todaygotclass is the happier way to book classes – you can use their portal to discover the very best classes for your children for free, book online on their website and get instant confirmation, and even get rewarded with exclusive discounts by accumulating points every time you book classes with them! ๐Ÿ‘

Lesson #3

@maelethsarah attended her third class at @sparkanauts at SAFRA Toa Payoh today!
We noticed that she’s having a lot more fun and she keeps walking over to the teachers to touch the items that they’re holding. ๐Ÿ˜„

In the previous two classes, Mae lacked confidence during the trapeze segment of the class and didn’t allow the teachers to help her swing on it,
but today she felt comfortable enough to go for TWO rounds!
There are visible improvements with each lesson that Mae attends! ๐Ÿ‘

Mae was also exposed to new Mandarin words today, and even though she hasn’t started speaking Mandarin yet, we believe that her vocabulary is expanding just from listening! โ€ข
We enjoyed ourselves so much again and are looking forward to her fourth class! “Sparkanauts” is one of the many children enrichment programmes that you can sign up for on Today Got Class.

Lesson #4

[This review first appeared on @miltongohblogย – Click on link to watch the video]

@maelethsarah attended her fourth class at @sparkanauts at SAFRA Toa Payoh today! She especially enjoyed this hand puppet segment that was very adorable –
To teach commonly-used Mandarin words, the puppets were used to demonstrate the meaning of the words! ๐Ÿ˜„

We believe that Mae’s understanding of the Mandarin language is increasing with each lesson, as she is exposed to more new words each time! ๐Ÿ—ฃ

We enjoyed ourselves so much again and are looking forward to her fifth class! “Sparkanauts” is one of the many children enrichment programmes that you can sign up for on “Today Got Class” (www.todaygotclass.com). ๐Ÿ‘

Lesson #5

[This review first appeared on @miltongohblog]

@maelethsarah attended her fifth class at @sparkanauts at SAFRA Toa Payoh today! Mae missed three weeks of Mandarin classes due to catching two bouts of flu in a row. ๐Ÿ˜ข
That is probably why she took a bit longer to warm up and become participative during class today – in these three weeks, the familiarity had decreased.
That’s why we believe that it’s important for little ones to go for classes regularly and consistently, ย so that they will be more engaged and thus benefit more from the classes! ๐Ÿ˜„

Mae was also excited to leave home today after having stayed home for so many days to recuperate from her flus. ๐Ÿ˜Š
Here are some photos of Mae in class today – we are so glad that she’s finally back in class!!
Swipe left all the way to the end to see the pretty ladybug that we decorated together with Mae during the Arts and Crafts segment of the class today!
For the first time, I learnt that ladybug is ็“ข่™ซ in mandarin ๐Ÿž๐Ÿ˜‚

We enjoyed ourselves so much again and are looking forward to her sixth class! “Sparkanauts” is one of the many children enrichment programmes that you can sign up for on “Today Got Class” (www.todaygotclass.com). ๐Ÿ‘

Lesson #6

[This review first appeared on @miltongohblog]

@maelethsarah attended her sixth class at @sparkanauts at SAFRA Toa Payoh today: Great News – Mae has graduated from baby class to toddler class!! Mae’s teacher feels that Mae can walk steadily and is good enough on her feet to advance to the next class! ๐Ÿ˜„

Mae was so participative and she allowed both teachers and a mummy to carry her during the activities!
She also stacked up four blocks like a tower as instructed by the teacher!
On top of that, she was exposed to new Mandarin vocabulary like ๆ™š (late), ๆ™šไธŠ(night), and ๆ™šๅฎ‰(goodnight). ๐ŸŒ›

Here are some photos of Mae in class today –
Swipe left ๐Ÿ‘ˆ all the way to the end to see the adorable spotted whale that we used coloured stamps to decorate together with Mae during the Arts and Crafts segment today! ๐Ÿณ

We enjoyed ourselves so much again and are looking forward to her seventh class! “Sparkanauts” is one of the many children enrichment programmes that you can sign up for on “Today Got Class” (www.todaygotclass.com). ๐Ÿ‘

Lesson #7

[This review first appeared on @miltongohblog]

@maelethsarah attended her seventh Mandarin class at @sparkanauts at SAFRA Toa Payoh today:
It was her first lesson in the toddler class!! ๐Ÿ˜„

There are quite a few new activities in class, so we’ll just share about two today and talk about the others in the following weeks:
Mae participated in her first shuttle run! I sat on one end of the classroom with an empty box, and on the other end, Mae’s Mandarin teacher sat there with a box full of plastic vegetable toys! ๐ŸŒฝ

Starting from the teacher’s side, Mae took her first vegetable and ran towards me, dropped the vegetable in my empty box, and ran back to the teacher’s side to pick up her next vegetable!
This repeated for 8 rounds, giving her plenty of exercise!
The purpose of this activity is to train her thigh muscles when she stoops down to pick up the vegetable from the floor. ๐Ÿ’ช

Here are some photos of Mae in class today –
Swipe left ๐Ÿ‘ˆ all the way to the end to see the green beans that Mae planted in wet cotton wool during the Arts and Crafts segment today! We get to bring it home and see it sprout three days later! ๐ŸŒฑ

We enjoyed ourselves so much again and are looking forward to her eighth class! “Sparkanauts” is one of the many children enrichment programmes that you can sign up for on “Today Got Class” (www.todaygotclass.com). ๐Ÿ‘

Lesson #8

[This review first appeared on @miltongohblog]

@maelethsarah attended her eighth Mandarin class at @sparkanauts at SAFRA Toa Payoh today!
Remember the trapeze from her baby class? Now in toddler class, she does two different types of hanging activities to train her hand grip muscles, as seen in the photos! ๐Ÿ“ธ

The first type is a swinging trapeze. Back in baby class, she just hung on for 30 counts while the bar is stationary, before finally swinging towards me for me to carry her.
Now, Mae hangs on while she is swung on the bar back and forth for 10 counts before she is carried by us!
This is more advanced than before! ๐Ÿ’ช

Then the second type of hanging activity is a stationary hanging bar where Mae grips the two loops and a teacher props up her two feet until Mae is balancing horizontally in the air!
It’s so great that while Mae is learning Mandarin, her body is also being trained and strengthened at the same time! ๐Ÿ˜„

Swipe left ๐Ÿ‘ˆ all the way to the end to see the peony flower that we coloured with Mae during the Arts and Crafts segment today! ๐ŸŒบ

We enjoyed ourselves so much again and are looking forward to her ninth class! “Sparkanauts” is one of the many children enrichment programmes that you can sign up for on “Today Got Class” (www.todaygotclass.com). ๐Ÿ‘

Lesson #9

[This review first appeared on @miltongohblog]

@maelethsarah attended her ninth Mandarin class at @sparkanauts at SAFRA Toa Payoh today!
The theme of the class today was “family”. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ

The teachers taught Mae how to call her family members in Mandarin (for example: ็ˆท็ˆท is her daddy’s father, ๅค–ๅฉ† is her mummy’s mother, etc.) Mae even worked on decorating and putting together her very own family tree during the Arts and Crafts segment of the class (Swipe left ๐Ÿ‘ˆ all the way to see it!) ๐Ÿ˜„

This is really important knowledge for our little ones to learn and sometimes we overlook teaching something so fundamental.
Thank God for these Mandarin classes to teach such lessons! ๐Ÿ™

We enjoyed ourselves so much again and are looking forward to Mae’s tenth class! “Sparkanauts” is one of the many children enrichment programmes that you can sign up for on “Today Got Class” (www.todaygotclass.com). ๐Ÿ‘

Lesson #10

[This review first appeared on @miltongohblog]

@maelethsarah attended her tenth Mandarin class at @sparkanauts at SAFRA Toa Payoh today!
We would like to share about how the classes have helped her physical development ๐Ÿ˜„

Ever since Mae started crawling, she has always crawled weirdly: she would use one leg to ‘walk’ while using her two hands to move forward on the ground. ๐Ÿ˜‚

According to a specialist, crawling the right way is important for Mae’s brain development, so we tried to demonstrate it to her to get her to copy us.
It didn’t work – she still crawled using her weird way. ๐Ÿ˜•

Just yesterday, Mae who usually only walks around, suddenly got on the floor and crawled the proper way for quite a distance!! ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks to the training by the teachers in class, Mae is finally able to crawl properly!
Not only that, through the many physical activities like obstacle courses, balancing beam, trampoline, trapeze, etc. in class, Mae has become much stronger and gets her muscles worked out with targeted exercises. ๐Ÿ‘

Mae is always sleepy after class because she gets a satisfying workout.
During the Arts and Crafts segment of the class today, she helped to make a little bed out of a sponge and some pegs. Swipe left ๐Ÿ‘ˆ all the way to see it!
I’m sure Mae wants a real bed to rest her tired body on ๐Ÿ˜ด
