Build, Invent and Code

Course Description

In partnership with MAKE and KIDSCODE, Today Got Class launches MAKE:IT / CODE: IT (2nd Edition) for the June School Holidays.

Where kids will learn Design, master Coding with Micro:bit and Collaborate to build a remote-controlled car, with pit-stop challenges.

“Coding camps are now aplenty, but what sets this one apart is the emphasis on the ‘making’ – the design thinking and applied thinking process” – Life’s Tiny Miracles (Review here)

In MAKE: IT / CODE: IT (2nd Edition)

Learn 3D design and coding using a micro:bit controller. Create useful electronics with sensors, devices that amaze and inspire — where form meets function, the perfect balance of creativity and technology.

Whether your child is a newbie or an intermediate practitioner of micro:bit, this holiday camp is customized to your child’s learning ability and experience.

For June holidays 2018, campers will also enjoy a company tour  of Microsoft, which includes the exclusive New World of Work experience!

Your Child Will Learn

MAKE: IT

Engineering isn’t just about codes and technical knowledge. Your child will learn design and prototyping concepts, transforming everyday materials using basic hand tools and techniques – Using electric drills, glue-guns and more. Related Science and Math concepts will be reinforced, with hands-on learning to create projects during this holiday camp.
Knowledge Check : 3D design and Prototype concepts, Science and Math concepts, Upcycling

CODE: IT

Learn to code and prototype with the micro:bit microcontroller. In this holiday camp, your child will learn computational skills which are critical to brain growth as a child learns analysis, trouble-shooting and problem solving via coding designs. Your child will also be exposed to various available sensors, using micro:bit to create innovative projects and prototypes.
Knowledge Check : Programming and Computational Thinking concepts, Continue to tinker at home with project files (Micro:bit will be provided during class session only)

CHALLENGE: IT

Applying the knowledge learnt, your child will now spend the last day of the holiday camp as part of a “pit crew” to custom-build a dynamic remote-controlled car that overcomes a series of challenges. Your child will apply what he or she has learnt the last 2 days – Form meets function, the perfect balance of creativity and tech – this is also where your child acquires STEM principles of critical thinking, trouble-shooting and collaboration.
Knowledge Check : Teamwork, Real-life contextual relevance, Knowledge Application

DREAM: IT

We end our holiday camp with an Office Tour and a New World of Work Tour at Microsoft – the world’s most recognized Consumer Tech company. An unforgettable learn and play experience!
A complimentary add-on for kids attending MAKE: IT \ CODE: IT Holiday Camp (2nd Edition)!
